Consultation and Evaluation
After a full examination, Dr Smetanina and her team will perform an analysis of your smile. We will discuss your goals and what you like and dislike about your smile. We will take care to evaluate your teeth and bite to ensure a customized result that is best for you and the health of your mouth
Using our Cerec 3D scanner, we create a precise 3D scan of your teeth that will allow us to map out a custom treatment plan just for you.
A preview of your new smile
Using your scan and with your goals in mind we will design the roadmap for your treatment. We will show you a 3D simulation (ClinCheck) of your teeth from start to finish so you know exactly what your final result will be.
Transforming your smile from your first tray
We will explain how to use your trays as well as add any necessary attachments to your teeth to help the movements. You will leave with multiple trays and we will see you once every two months as your teeth get straighter and straighter!

Aligner is the clear alternative to metal braces for kids, teens, and adults. They work in a series of trays that gradually shift your teeth into place.
Aligner therapy begins with an orthodontic consultation. Dr Maria Smetanina will map out a customized treatment plan that illustrates the step-by-step transformation of your teeth and smile. Once your plan is approved, your set of unique dental aligners will be created. You will wear each set of aligners for 20 to 22 hours per day, changing aligners every one to two weeks as directed by your dentist. Your teeth will gradually and gently shift to their new place, until you achieve your new smile.
Absolutely, it is possible for your teeth to move back after Aligners but wearing a retainer at night can maintain alignment. Retention is essential to keeping your teeth straight following aligner therapy. In some cases, Dr. Smetanina may suggest a fixed permanent retainer in addition to your nighttime retainers to provide additional support.
Patients can start noticing improvements in as little as 4 weeks but most cases take 6-12 months depending on how crowded your teeth are initially. Moving teeth too fast can cause unwanted damage. Dr. Smetanina will personally create a treatment plan tailored to your individual needs.
As long as you follow your instructions, Invisalign will be a permanent way to straighten your teeth when paired with a nighttime retainers.
Braces and Invisalign both effectively straighten teeth, but it is case-dependent. Braces may be better for patients with severely crooked teeth and who may not have all of their adult teeth (especially kids and teenagers). Invisalign may be especially beneficial for adults since the aligners are invisible. A thorough consultation is essential to figure out which is right for you.

No, you should take your Invisalign trays off and place them in the case. Eat your meal and brush your teeth if possible, if not be sure to brush at night. Once you have finished eating, place the trays back in.
You can eat or drink anything you want, but you must remove your trays beforehand. One tip, is to avoid foods with heavy pigmentation like turmeric, to avoid staining your trays. If your trays are stained, there are cleaning solutions that can help reduce staining.
People who are relatively close may notice, but the trays are relatively invisible and it’s unlikely people will notice.
